Gone Home

Kevin Crawley, a dear friend of Scouting in Kemsing passed away peacefully on the evening of 26th March.

Kevin and his wife Pat have a long history of being involved with Scouting. All their sons were Scouts and Venture Scouts at Kemsing some 30 plus years ago and Kevin became an active supporter. Being practical in nature, Kevin helped at district events such as science badges and map reading. He held the treasurer role at Kemsing Group and was a member of the District Executive.

One of his tasks at the District level must have been on the estates and property teams as he was involved in overseeing the asbestos removal from some HQs in the district. More recently Kevin was a part of what was the Scout fellowship and is now the Active Support Unit.

I am sure the close knit group of scouting friends will recall the outings on the barge on the Kennet and Avon canal that he organised and skippered and the help he provided at working parties. Kevin once let slip that he had had a glider experience and absolutely loved it. When he stepped down from the treasurer role at Kemsing, the group sent him off with a memorable experience making sure he was able to enjoy another glider experience.

He will be much missed. Our thoughts and condolences go to Pat and their family.
