Dear parents and leaders,
Some of you may have seen or heard that the planning application for the new HQ has been withdrawn. This is on the advice of Sevenoaks Planning Department, as they believe it would be rejected on the basis of restrictions imposed be to the site's location within the Green Belt.
They have advised that we make some alterations to the proposal (removing external hard standing, covered area and reduce the height of the hall) and then resubmit.
By withdrawing and resubmitting, there is no additional fee, however if it had been rejected, we would have had to go through the whole process again. The alterations will incur additional costs through the architect's fees (a former Kemsing Scout, so at a much less than commercial rate) and a delay of up to eight weeks.
I hope that this clarifies our position for you.
It is likely that the additional financial costs will wipe out a large part of the revenue raised through the Jumble Sale on 23rd March so please, please do all you can to offer your support to this event, even if you can only spare an hour, between 9am and 5pm.
Yours in Scouting,
